Achieving life balance as a mum

Happy July!! Its a bit cold and windy intermixed with some beautiful crisp sunny days.  I’ve been busy moving house, raising kids, counselling and writing books. The life of a working mum or any mum, is very full it seems.  I’ve been working on trying to get my work life balance right, which is no easy task.

Here are some tips I’ve come up with that have worked:

Continually reassess and review what you have on your plate.  Ask yourself- is it too much, not enough? add things in to your schedule or cut back accordingly.

I actually got to a point where I cut back too much and had to work to add in a few more activities for myself to feel engaged with life again.  Often its the other way around though, and I find myself asking :how will I fit all these things in?  I am a self professed “over-whelmer” when things get hectic.  To cope I talk to myself in a very particular way. For example, – I make clear positive statements to myself such as: I can cope with this, it may take longer that I want it to, but it will get done if it is important enough.  People won’t die if they have to wait a few days to a week for some piece of paperwork (95% of the time anyway!!) I also use statements such as: I am calm, I am competent etc.  These things really work!!

How is your schedule going? I would love to hear about how you are managing it?

With love and light,
